Set off on an adventure of epic proportions in our latest educational game for BBC Bitesize! Back in time with… Exciting Explorers offers 5-7 year olds a front row seat on some of history’s most extraordinary adventures:

• Trek across vast deserts on camelback to assist Ibn Battuta on his pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca!
• Fly across the Atlantic ocean with Amelia Earhart and prevent her airplane from freezing up!
• Blast into space alongside Neil Armstrong and witness mankind’s first steps on the moon!

With unique missions for each historical figure, Back in time with… Exciting Explorers aims to enhance the Key Stage 1 History curriculum by giving children a unique role to play in humanity’s greatest stories. 

Back in time with… Exciting Explorers is Plug-in Media’s second time working within BBC’s IVOR engine, and was produced during the UK lockdown at the height of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. This unique circumstance posed challenges to our artists, developers and production staff, who designed and built the game whilst working remotely. Exciting Explorers has offered educators an invaluable, engaging resource at a time where parents are taking on more responsibility for their children’s education than ever before.
