Pyro(technics) to the People

Digital Interactive Fireworks from Plug-in Media

Overview

Pyro(technics) to the People is an innovative and engaging interactive experience which challenges the passive relationship an audience traditionally has with public firework events. Successfully piloted at the Brighton Digital Festival in November 2007 it uses sensor-powered technology, triggered by the audience, to determine the style and intensity of the display of specially created Flash animation.

Pyro(technics) to the People has the flexibility to adapt to a wide range of urban environments and is a unique and high impact event, sophisticated enough to engage even the most technically savvy audience whilst also being safe and suitable for all ages.

Background

Pyro(technics) to the People is collaboration between Brighton based Flash design company Plug-In Media and digital media consultant and producer Tara Solesbury. Its name is in part a tongue-in-cheek homage to the ‘power to the people’ political slogan used in the 60s/70s and also a reference to its interactive and inclusive nature.
