Wired Sussex: Breakfast Session.

1st July 2021

In today’s tech-savvy and digitalised economy, freelancing is quickly becoming an increasingly popular and sustainable career choice.  According to the Brighton Fuse Report, 80% of Brighton companies use freelancers and 94% of freelancers say they prefer freelancing to being employed.

In celebration of National Freelance Day, Plug-In Media’s Managing Director Juliet Tzabar and former Technical Director, now freelance Developer Alan Owen, have come together to talk about all things freelance. With a combined total of 42 years experience working in the media sector, the pair have a wide range of industry knowledge and offer professional freelancing advice in their half an hour Breakfast Session for Wired Sussex.

In the session, Juliet and Alan cover a range of topics from managing the notorious ‘freelancer fear’, maintaining a work-life balance and adjusting to alternate workplace cultures. With Juliet hiring and working alongside countless freelancers over the last 20 years, and Alan running a successful freelance career since leaving Plug-in in 2018, the pair offer valuable expertise from two different perspectives.

If you are thinking of going freelance, hiring freelancers, looking to connect with other freelancers or are already an established freelancer looking for work, you can check out Juliet and Alan’s breakfast session here for their trusty tips and tricks. We’ve also summarised both Juliet and Alan’s top 5 tips here.

Breakfast Sessions are held every month for Wired Sussex’s members. They are a valuable way for companies and freelancers in the Technology, Media and Digital sector to network, innovate and keep up to date with new industry updates.
